ABOUT OUR CHAPTER
The Building Industry of Southern California (BIASC) has been home to the highest residential construction volume on the West Coast. BIASC promotes home ownership and home building to ensure our members’ success in providing homes for all Southern Californians.
Home ownership not only strengthens our families, it also stabilizes communities and fosters economic prosperity. With new homes come new schools, new fire stations, parks and cultural centers. Our members – builders, subcontractors, remodelers, designers, architects, and engineers are among the best and brightest in the industry – all working together to build communities for families to call home. BIASC works diligently to support its members so that more Southern California families may realize the American Dream of home ownership. We are building the American Dream……one home at a time!
Our non-profit trade association is made up of thousands of industry professionals, technicians, and craftsmen and their member companies who have extensive knowledge and experience in building and development.
We address the issues that are important to the industry and we provide unparalleled leadership to our members, while supporting safe, healthy, and sustainable growth and measures that assure an adequate supply and range of housing for all incomes and lifestyles.
The organization’s leaders and members advocate for policies that promote and protect appropriate development and redevelopment. We increase awareness about the importance of housing and those who provide it, and facilitate business opportunities.
BIASC Coachella Valley is one of multiple chapters including Baldy View (San Bernardino County), Los Angeles/Ventura, Orange County, and Riverside County, that make up the Building Industry Association of Southern California, which addresses issues throughout the region and oversees activities of the Chapters. BIA is also affiliated with the statewide California Building Industry Association (CBIA).
- Members First
BIASC serves builders and developers in all cities within the Southern California region including Coachella Valley.
The Events & Education Committee plans and helps promote and facilitate the educational offerings and social events of the chapter for each calendar year. They are responsible for guiding and shaping the Chapter’s activities, both social and educational. Our members volunteer to raise awareness of the chapter activities by promoting them to their colleagues and attending and participating where needed. This Committee meets leading up to organized events.
The Golf Committee is a catalyst for the Annual Golf Tournament and supports and secures sponsors, foursomes, and raffled prizes for the event. The Committee provides insight as to how the event will continue to grow and be successful. This Committee is activated closer to the date of the annual event, TBA.
BIASC Coachella Valley regularly hosts chapter Membership Meetings. Membership meetings provide members the ability to network while working collaboratively with fellow members on ways to enhance membership for current and prospective members.
Government Affairs Committee
The GAC Committee monitors land development policies, issues and regulations of targeted cities, regional issues, environmental issues (ESA, water), and code issues, state and federal legislations as they apply to land development issues. The committee works to keep fees in line and responds to legislative initiatives. It also provides ongoing research and recommendations for BIA advocacy positions on local and regional county development issues. It also covers issues related to construction quality, and code updates.
